There are all sorts of reasons why you might want to locate your Windows product key. Maybe because you are thinking of upgrading from Windows 7 or 8.1 to Windows 10 (which is still free, tell Microsoft what it says), or maybe because you want to perform a clean installation of the operating system.

In the past all this involved finding the Windows installation medium, which in my case at least used to end up forgotten in a drawer, the classic “I’ll save it here so it does not get lost” … to later not find it. With this solution we will now be able to find our Windows product key via software with PK Finder.

This is just one of the many tools that can be found on the internet to locate the blissful key, but the one we are dealing with in this article is by far the simplest . There are installable and portable versions of the program, and to use it all you have to do is run it. The program will then scan your operating system and tell you which version of Windows you are using (Windows 10 Pro in my case), introducing you the password.

The tool has three menus: File, Tools and Help. In the first you can reload the product key, save it in a text file or exit the program. In the second you can change the appearance of PK Finder with a wide range of options and in the last you can find everything related to the support of the program.

However, to use it, you only have to click on the button next to the key to copy it, and then you can paste it where you want or use the menu described above to save it in an editable text file. It is not a program that we will use on a regular basis, but in case you need it you have a tool to do it that will not fail you.
